NGA choosed from the beginning the classic landing gear.
It has the advantage to be versatile and allows landing on unprepared runways, or snow, or water... It is robust and is even superior from an aerodynamic point of view: reducing drag (probably eliminating the need for a retractable gear ?).
The recognised disadvantages are that the propeller is not "protected" by a gear leg, but this risk is reduced to a maximum by placing the main landing gear far in front of the c.g. This requires the aircraft to flare (and take off) at an angle which matches a 3 points landing (or take off). The landing gear and the tail of the NG Aeroplane are designed that way: no "push - pull" during take off necessary, just keep the stick neutral...
Even for pilots who has something against classical landing gear shall feel "at home".
